Several reviewers complained about the lack of assembly instructions. However, after assembling the fan without the help of any instructions (it's not that difficult if you have some mechanical dexterity, which not everyone has though), I found that there are instructions in the manual. It's just hard to find them. They are not at the beginning of the manual, but at the very end, after the instructions for use in French and Spanish. It would make much more sense to have assembly instructions at the beginning of the instructions or on a separate piece of paper. The assembly instructions are clear enough. Note that before attaching the base to the leg, you must unscrew the 2 screws from the bottom of the leg. They then screw back into the base to provide a more secure fit than just plastic clips. After assembly, the fan works quite well. It's not exactly quiet, but it's not loud either. It sounds almost exactly like my old similar fan before it broke. I would normally rate it a 5, but I'm giving it one star for the poorly designed assembly instructions.
