1080P 2.0MP Waterproof Indoor Bullet Cameras. This is my first impression as I have only had the system for a few weeks. I first bought a very similar CCTV camera system in October 2017. This system also came with 4 cameras and a 2TB hard drive, sold separately. 300 dollars. This system was decent for what I consider a budget system. But my biggest issue with the system is that its motion detection feature was overly sensitive. I have set up the system to email me when it detects motion from any of the cameras. I received between 400 and 1000+ emails a day. 90% of these were simply due to shadows moving in the wind or similar circumstances. I believe the system works like this: it uses software to compare pixels or groups of pixels to look for changes in intensity (i.e. dark to light or light to dark). I've tried many things from reducing the intensity to only selecting the area of the image to trigger, and still got over 400 emails a day. Otherwise this system was fine, especially for the price. Looking around I found the Tonton system and it was very similar in performance but it had one big difference. The cameras had a passive infrared sensor (PIR). They ignite when heated and work in the same way as motion-sensitive outdoor lights that have been around for over 20 years. I understand and expect that Tonton cameras should only alarm when the body temperature of humans or possibly animals changes. And not based on the alternation of light and dark. I've only had the system for a few weeks. The system had some quirks but I was really impressed with the technical support. They were very responsive and provided some fixes for the issues I was having. One is that when I received an email notification, I expected a picture or camera footage of the event that triggered the notification. The solution was found in a day or two. This required a firmware update on the dash cam (the box containing the hard drive and the hardware that connects to the cameras and the internet). It's a little annoying to do this. But the other system I mentioned above required the same effort. This includes copying the file to a USB drive and connecting it to the NVR, as well as viewing the NVR's menu system and performing a firmware update. It took 10 minutes in total. It was a bit confusing at first but makes sense and got easier after I did it on my original system. Simply put, for the price of this system, this is what you should do to save money. There is also some flexibility to improve or even modify the system. Thus, it can help keep this system functioning for quite a while. Keep in mind that in my research, next-cost systems don't offer PIR capabilities. At first I only set up two cameras to test the system before replacing my other system. These cameras sit alongside my original cameras and aim for the exact same ones as yours. Since then I would say I've only received 2 or maybe 3 false positives every day. I want to address what the other said in their review. They said the video stream was severely distorted. I don't know how it is set up or what exactly the problem is, but I had such problems when setting up my system. However, I've learned a few things. I had an old HDMI LCD TV. It works well but the aspect ratio is a bit silly and the image seems to be compressed from side to side. However, after playing around with the system a bit, this was no longer a problem for me. Here's what I did/learned. First I tried the system on a computer monitor with a VGA input instead of HDMI and it made the picture much better. Clearer and better aspect ratio. Second, when I download video files and play them on my computer, the aspect ratio is either normal or something I can't see. Third, these cameras have wide-angle lenses compared to most other systems (Tonton 3.6mm, my other system has 4mm and 6mm). The smaller the number, the wider the captured image. And this can lead to a slight distortion. But honestly I think the distortion is minimal or non-existent and the fact that the cameras record more is the feature I prefer. One more thing I would like to emphasize, monitors are good for me to confirm that the cameras are working and watching the world. and maybe make sure everything is ok. But I don't see 7x24 monitors and if problems ever arise I have to rely on the video stored on the hard drive to confirm what happened and to get pictures of who caused the problems and those pictures are pretty Well. I'll probably buy a used or cheap VGA monitor to get a better picture than my cheap LCD TV. Okay, so do I buy this system? Is it better than the first system I bought that I am going to replace my original system? Nearly. I have to say I'm 95% convinced. Now I'm just worried about the reliability and their guarantees and warranties. And it will take time to see if the equipment will hold up and if there are any problems, if and how they will replace their equipment. I don't expect any problems, but as with normal online shopping, sometimes there is a problem with the seller/supplier. The previous system I bought had 4 cameras. Two cameras failed in about 4 months. So this is worrying. However, this company replaced the hardware with no problems. If the Tonton and NVR cameras are durable or if I have an issue and the Tonton people will replace any device that fails then this is what I'm looking for. key system. My brother has various IP cameras with SD cards and such. Its cameras aren't bad, but Tonton is a complete system and it seems that once set up it just works and doesn't need any controls. So the bottom line is, I plan on keeping this system and replacing my original system. Leave future updates to my review as I learn more about my tone and its reliability or if I run into any problems. All is not lost with the original system. The power connections are standardized, so I only have to swap the cameras. Next, the original system works great for indoors as the light doesn't change unless someone adjusts the light and I want to get a notification. So there are almost no false alarms. I will put them in my garage and basement. Pros: PIR eliminates almost all false alarms The system is fairly cheap for what it offers Night vision is pretty good 1080 is noticeably better than the other system's 960 Camera mounts are a bit difficult to install, but once installed they are solid (the other system is a ball mount that is difficult to tighten) My system is set up Haven't tried it yet, but this system allows for daisy chaining of the camera signal which gives the cameras a longer range Technical support was very responsive and quick Cons: Power cords for camera power supplies are short (Extenders are easy to find and cheap) The original system I bought had longer power cords and I still had to buy extension cords. The mouse that came with it is pretty cheap but it was the same with the original system - I bought a wireless mouse e Need an online presence to have instructions and answers to frequently asked questions - they said it will be. Their manual is actually written in decent English, but the images are small and a little dark. He can use the table of contents. (The website will fix this.) This may be just my opinion and not a real issue, but the files downloaded are in FLV format and the web interface requires Adobe Flash. My other system has the same. A USB port, this requires a USB hub if you need to update the NVR or camera firmware. Mixed (for and against). PIR is very sensitive. My front door is about 30-40 feet from the street and passing cars start the system up. I haven't had a chance to ask TonTon support if there are any tweaks or anything else I can do due to the reduced PIR sensitivity. Elsewhere, however, I really like how sensitive PIR is. Note: I'm not sure, but this Tonton system, my original system and another similar system owned by a relative have similar hardware and interfaces are very similar. I suspect they either have a common kernel design or maybe even a common platform for their hardware. It reminds me that Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac were the same parent company and shared many parts. This can be good as it means many systems in between are standard and more systems will likely be sold and spare parts available, particularly things like cables and antennas and things needed to set up the system for unique needs. .At the end of the day I would like this system to work for a while but for now I am happy with this system and would recommend it to other people.
