We love this mat. This makes playing cards much more enjoyable, especially in fast-paced games where you need to draw a card quickly. The surface is smooth and non-static, so you can easily pick up cards. At the same time, they do not slip on the carpet, the cards stay in place. It folds easily and packs easily into a bag. But there are fine lines that I don't think will ever go away. I've tried rolling the mat perpendicular to the way I last rolled it and I think that helps, but it's still a little wavy. This isn't enough to cause problems with the cards, the protrusions stick out about 1-5 millimeters above the table, which is very small. I haven't tried ironing yet, but maybe it will help. All in all a very good playmat.
