I used to have plastic molds that closed. They made excellent ice balls but it was painful to take them out. I usually had to pour hot water over the mold to loosen it. However, with them I can just press up/down to push the ball out. Also, I bought them because over time I've broken all my plastic bottles by dropping them/they fell out of the freezer when I opened it. They are soft so they won't break if they fall on the floor. I love them and would 100% gift them. A good thing! (Tip: To make clear ice, use hot water and pour out some before placing the mold in the freezer to accommodate the expansion.)
