Columbia Little Boys' Steens sweatshirt can handle my active dirty crazy boy! He'd rather I didn't stop him at the door to put his jacket on before he runs outside, but that's what mothers are for. He doesn't worry too much about that though, as the jacket has large armholes that make it easy to put on, the hood is big enough to actually cover the whole head without constricting the shoulders, and it's soft and light. I have nothing to fear either. While light it's quite warm and should be fine by winter (I'd say it might be 45F with a thick long sleeve shirt). The jacket is durable and has survived multiple machine washes without shrinking or other damage (I have to wash off dirt and other sticky stuff weekly). It also has a sewn-in name tag so I can be sure the jacket comes home from preschool with it on. I chose the size so that the jacket is suitable for both the cooler autumn and spring. 4T fits my 3 year old but the cuff on the sleeve folds nicely. It's worth it!
