First impressions of the EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G+. The device worked immediately after installation, which is always a good sign, isn't it? Didn't think I would otherwise have used the included power-on tester to at least make sure the PSU was powered on before spending hours installing and cleaning. The unit was well packaged for both shipping and retail packaging. There are many cables included in the package that have been beautifully wrapped in Velcro with the EVGA logo. Ideal for use after assembly to tidy up the cables and give the installation a nice look. All cables were long enough for my full tower ATX application, which is taller than many. Even the 12V 2x4 CPU power cables reached from the bottom of the case to the top left corner of my motherboard, albeit with difficulty. The inclusion of (2) of these cables and a total of (4) VGA power cables was a nice touch, although most people won't need that many. Some builders prefer ribbon cable, but I agree with both ribbon cables and sleeves, so that's not a problem. The sleeve is nice and well finished on both ends. My only concern with cables is (1) that the wire is very, very stiff and difficult to manage in tight spaces. The trade-off between lots of insulation and the right wire size is a fair trade-off. (2) PSU manufacturers continue to use SATA jumpers that are too short in the SATA power daisy chain. The EVGA power supply is significantly smaller than the Corsair HX1000 it replaces, which I think is a good thing. The EVGA power supply has a nice, durable finish that looks like a solid black finish. Even if the fan doesn't have an ECO mode per se, you can't hear it running in the closed housing. We'll look at long-term performance as I only had it on for 24 hours. Hopefully it will last as long as my HX1000, which was still working great when I replaced it. ten years. the warranty is reassuring, and EVGA customer support has traditionally been above average. I haven't measured the voltage points on my motherboard yet, but the software says the 12V, 5V, and 3.3V rails are working according to specs in both standby and workloads. Value for money" just average as PSU prices have skyrocketed since the inception of the tariffs. It's not really EVGA's fault, but I think this PSU originally cost about $119 before all guidelines However, given its price position compared to other gold rated budget power supplies from well-known brands, this is still relatively good value for money.Overall I am happy with the purchase and hope the power supply will last for many years to come.
