Smashburger Equivalent

We've used this a few times on Blackstone for homemade Smashburgers and it does the job. I cover loosely wrapped meatballs with wax paper, then press down (hard) and hold for 10 seconds, metal to metal. It's easier if the meat isn't straight out of the fridge. Its inner diameter is 6 inches (for comparison, an audio disc is 4.7 inches). I think the depth is where it should be a little less than the advertised 1/2 inch. If I use 1/4 lb of beef, it will shrink as it cooks and appear thick; but if I stick to 1/3 lb, this tool spreads it out nice, wide and thin. I use 80% lean ground beef. Cooked properly, the burger will even stick to a seasoned skillet. You'll need a wide, chiseled spatula to make the first swipe.
