This is a very cheap headlight so don't expect it to compete with top brand headlights. If you're wondering what's the difference between a cheap headlamp and an expensive one, I'm comparing it to my Streamlight Enduro Pro, which is a similar product but costs about 4 times as much. I totally understand that comparing a $6 headlamp to a $24 flashlight is unfair, but by explaining the differences I think it's a good way to illustrate what makes this lamp cheap and what makes it cheap You get when you spend the extra money on a quality lamp. so you can decide if it's worth it for you. Batteries: Both require three AAA batteries. An expensive headlamp comes with batteries. This SE does not exist. Also, putting batteries into an expensive battery is much easier; The SE has cheap little springs that need to be pushed into place, but the expensive ones have little metal plates that the batteries just slide into (see my photo for comparison). Strap: The expensive one has a thicker and more durable strap. . The cheap one has a thin strap that will get the job done but will likely stretch over time. UI: Dear has a store. So once you've selected the brightness setting and left it for about 10 seconds, the next button press will turn off the flashlight. With a cheap SE headlamp, no matter how long you leave the flashlight on, you have to cycle through all the modes to easily turn it off. This is one of the biggest differences between a quality headlamp and a cheap one. Going through all the modes is a pain when you just want to turn it off. Dear will also remember the last setting you used and pick up where it left off when you turn it back on. The cheap one starts right away with the first mode. Color temperature: Expensive has a color temperature of around 5500 K, which corresponds to the temperature of daylight. The cheap one has a temperature of 6200K (measured by me) which has a more bluish tint. Cheap flashlights usually have a blue cast. Light with a color temperature similar to daylight simply looks better because it renders colors more accurately. I personally prefer warm white headlights with a color temperature of 4500K or below, but these are hard to find. Light quality: Expensive has separate spot and flood lights so you can choose the mode that works best for close-up shots. (Flood) or to look further (Spot). The cheap one has only one lamp, which is better suited for long distances. I definitely wouldn't use this SE reading lamp as a spotlight wouldn't illuminate the pages of a book evenly. The expensive Flood mode is much better for reading. Build Quality: The expensive one has a more solid build. The hinge that tilts the lantern down is much heavier and securely holds it in place. A cheaper one can easily be knocked down at a different angle. The cheap ones also have rough plastic parts and sharp edges, while the expensive ones are smoother, rounder, and more refined. That sums up the differences between cheap and expensive headlamps. For 6€ it's ok. It works and costs next to nothing.
