Replaced the failed device from the same manufacturer.
The failed device became temperature sensitive and could not operate in the attic. On a chilly morning it sent out some sort of signal, but after sunrise there was none. Replaced block and no more problems. Obviously, balancing resistors have become temperature sensitive. The failed unit was operational for several years.
