I thought cup holes would be the best idea until we tried it. Whether you use the included cups or regular individual cups, the holes are too close together, causing the tops of the cups to overlap slightly! Also, they sit so deep it's weird. Another annoyance... when you remove the cup, all that's left is a hole through which balls keep falling, which we have to catch up with! We ended up covering the holes with a baking sheet and putting the mugs in! The lights on it were great though - a nice touch for the outdoor Halloween party we had. I just wish it was more functional.
