I am a woman and I always buy shoes in the boy's department, they just always have more fashionable shoes than women, but if you want to get your girlfriend or wife, I would recommend If she size 8 for women I would choose size 7 or 6 for bigger kids, I am size 7 and they are a bit big but still fit well. I looked at the reviews before buying and was skeptical because the pictures say the indoor/outdoor slippers are not play shoes.
