This item is durable, beautiful and easy to care for. These are the positive aspects. However, one minus point torpedoes the use of this product. The downside is that the slicer doesn't cut the apple cleanly. After using this product many times, I found that it doesn't cut the apple completely. Accordingly, the bottom part of the apple is left uncut, meaning the user must turn the slicer and apple upside down and manually push the slices through the slicer for a clean cut. I've tried using fingers, blunt knife ends, forks, and other kitchen utensils to do what a slicer can't, but I haven't found the perfect way to accomplish the task this product leaves unfinished. It's like starting a car with a two-step process that the manufacturer lets you figure out for yourself. Great idea, this slicer. However, more development is required to make it work as intended. Accordingly, I cannot recommend the purchase.
