I have made several batches of strawberries and jerky with this machine and they have been perfect every time. It's a bit big, but I can dehydrate 4 pounds of beef in one go (also about 2 medium containers of thinly sliced berries). The only downside I can really say is that while it does go from 95 to 158, it does it in 9 intervals (so you can cook for 95, 104, 113, 122, 131, 140, 149, and 158) what can be a bit more cumbersome for more delicate fruits when drying. However, this can be avoided by simply reducing the drying time a bit. Anyway, I definitely recommend buying this unit if you're just looking for a nice big home use food dehydrator with an auto shut off (which comes in very handy for my work schedule!). PS If you want to dry things, they have to be cooked in a certain way (cut type and to a certain thickness). If you don't do this, your food will NOT dehydrate fast enough. Just like cooking: don't blame the stove if you cook something wrong :)
