This appears to be a quality product and very comfortable. It is very light and does not restrict movement at all, so it is very comfortable. I think it would be good for training. I returned mine for 2 reasons: 1) I was between sizes. The small ones fit well around the waist but were a bit tight in the seat. The medium ones fit the seat better but were too loose in the waist. This may be due to my oddly shaped body and may not affect others. My waist is 31 inches and my seat size is 37 inches. I usually wear 30" jeans, sometimes 31". 2) The material is very light and soft and also stretches well. This is probably a good choice for training. However, a side benefit is that it shows a lot of detail of what's on both the back and front. For normal modesty, especially if you use these shorts as casual wear, I think you need to pay a lot of attention to the choice of underwear. Compression shorts below would have worked well with these shorts, but regular boxers and some briefs revealed too much of my anatomy to be acceptable for me in public.
