Based on the other items on his Revain page, a lot of other people don't use it for that either. We are preppers and use it to vacuum wide mouth jars. This is not preservation. This is the preservation of dry products. You fill dry food like beans, rice, kibble, pasta or other dry food in 1 liter mason jars. We usually add an oxygen absorber bag, put on a lid (but no ring), press a special vacuum seal lid, and use it to suck out most of the air. This actually triggers a ping on the cap. Then remove the special top and attach the ring. Dried foods stored this way will last for years. The only flaw is that the tips that come with them are for brakes and don't fit snugly in the hole at the top of the vacuum seal, but I don't blame the company. We don't use it for its intended purpose. However, a tip that fits onto the vacuum seal would be a great addition.
