Freshly ground pepper is best. I have had a manual coffee grinder for many years and have decided to upgrade it. Hand grinders work, but if you're making a large dish and need to grind a lot of pepper or salt in a short amount of time, hand grinders will tire your hand and take a long time to make just the right amount. Every now and then I cook a pepper steak for 10 people and it's very difficult. Decided to go electric. In the package there are two completely identical grinders, at least I tried to understand what is salt and what is pepper, but they seem to me absolutely the same. The pepper and salt container is transparent so you know exactly how much you have left and when to refill. I also like that part of the pepper and salt container can be taken apart, which makes cleaning easier. I made handmade ones out of wood, they can't be washed. Overall they work very well and save me time and energy when I'm in the kitchen. I just need to change and charge the batteries every now and then.
