The instructions also say to add some sealant. Now do you need it? No, you can put your ear to the tube and hear if air flows through it. But for a geek like me, it's great to see this and know right away that the radon fan is working. Some might argue that this is another place to look for leaks, but I don't mind that. Silicone sealant lasts a long time.
