Review on StarTech.com USB 3.0 Slimline SATA ODD Enclosure for Blu-ray & DVD ROM - Portable Aluminum Drive Enclosure (SLSODDU33B) by Toby Galbraith

The build quality is pleasant. It's aluminum with a solid plastic back, but the case doesn't have a front. I included the screws but couldn't figure out what they were for as there were no other mounting points in the case other than the screw holes on the front. The funny thing is that the drive isn't really held to the tray by anything other than the SATA connection and friction. Theoretically, if you hold it connector-side down, the drive bay could slide, expand, or shake itself out. No additional assembly requirements were mentioned in the instructions. The drive bay worked in both MAC and laptop/PC operating systems. Startech doesn't seem to have a frame and while I appreciate Startech's quality, this seems to be a mistake on their part. Why go to the trouble of providing a well-equipped case for a generic part and then not providing the last satisfactory part? I'll either have to find a frame for a disc this size and pay even more (I know there is at least one Revain candidate that might work but is probably too small) or return it to Vantec which comes in the package at a lower price price is delivered. Without a properly installed front bezel, dirt can get in and destroy the drive. I shouldn't have accidentally clicked on that, that was my problem, but I figured I'd order the Vantec late at night I guess.
