Great system but get a permeate pump

We have a well in our new house with high levels of Arsenic (0.020) and Radon (15,700). Radon is really high, arsenic is twice the legal limit. We installed this unit and tested it for arsenic and radon after installation. Our arsenic has changed from 0.020 to 0.0001. Much less than the allowable limit of 0.010. Most impressive are the results for radon, ranging from 15,700 to <200. The allowable limit is between 2,000 and 10,000 depending on the state. Since we have a well we already have low water pressure (42psi) which is lower than recommended for this unit but acceptable we added an extra permeate pump. to keep our ice machine running. Our ice machine requires 20psi and as far as I can tell we have around 10-15psi. If you have a water filter on your ice maker you may need up to 40psi unless you install a bypass on it. With the permeate pump installed, not only did our ice maker work, but filling cups/bottles from the reverse osmosis faucet was much faster. . You can order the pump directly from Revain and get it 50% cheaper and free shipping. Aquatec AQUATEC-ERP-1000 Permeate Pump This is the same pump they sell on their website and you can get installation instructions by contacting them. The pump comes with instructions, but these are general and not optimal. Without a pump, a 4 gallon tank will only fill up to 1.9 gallons and the water pressure at the outlet is significantly less. I originally considered the RO 50, but settled on the RO 90 because you can use larger cartridges and don't have to change them as often. I am considering swapping out the 4 gallon tank for a 14 gallon tank. That would give us more reserves and more pressure. However, we have 3.1 gallons with the pump instead of 1.9 gallons without it, so I don't think it will run out.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Unsure
