Out of the box the lamp was not screwed into the base. I shook it lightly and heard the nut dangle. Luckily the bottom part came loose fairly easily so I was able to tighten it and replace it with no obvious sign of it. But it seems like he just wants to loosen up. The base is too light for the lamp, so it tips over very easily. I'm amazed it hasn't broken yet, even though I've only had it for about a week! Don't take your hands away until you're sure it's balanced! Finally, (confusingly) the remote control is very weak. You have to be within two or three feet to make it work. What is the remote control for in this case? So far I'm very disappointed. Probably won't last.
