I've owned a PlayStation 3, a PlayStation 4, and am currently using a PlayStation 5. I am pleased with how well games run on the PS4. The levels load quicker and the picture looks juicier in many games, even if they aren't labeled as "optimized for playing on ps5", but this difference may be less noticeable for those coming from a ps4 pro (I migrated from a fat ps4). In addition to the steelseries arctics 1 wireless headphones, I also grabbed a spare gamepad from the package (which ended up becoming the primary controller after I accidentally let the gamepad's stick drift). The quality of the surround sound is superb. You can hit a crow with an ax if you aim at its ear and use the same god of war. You should also bring an external hard drive to store your PS4 games. I'm interested in playing a handful of PS5 games, but until the ssd is upgraded, I can only do so.
