As other reviewers have noted, this item is very thin and light. I don't think it should be used alone in very cold weather. It works very well as an extra layer under a hat and scarf or even under another heavier balaclava. So far I have really liked it in combination with a hat and scarf in the middle of puberty F, with over 20 F was even too warm. This is ideal for any situation where layers are recommended. , and it's so small and light that it doesn't need to be packed and carried around, and it's very cheap so it's easy to buy a spare and take it with you. That makes for a pretty unforgiving hat, but I suspect that by choosing a balaclava as your headgear, you've taken the hat to heart pretty well.
