They are easy to use and can work. Remember

Overall I am pleased with my Scotch LS851G Self-Seal Laminating Bags, 9.5 mil, 2 7/16 x 3 7/8 Business Card Size (Pack of 25) packed up). They are decent designs and once you make the first choice, they are easy to use. There are a few things to note and the design could be better. The most obvious thing, even more obvious once you get past them, is that they increase the thickness of your cards. If you only have a few cards to protect, this might not matter. Less obvious is that the pocket's size is longer and wider than a regular business card or social security card. This means they may not fit in many card cases. This brings us to a potential point of failure. Part of what makes these pouches easy to use is that only one side of the pouch is sealed. You press one edge of the card to the seam where the top and bottom are pre-taped. Make sure your card is upright. So far, so good. Peel off the more flexible part and let the two parts stick together. So far so good and so easy. The problem is that only one side of the packaging is sticky. This piece protects one side of your card. If the new overall size of your map is not a problem, then everything is fine. If you have to cut the laminate to make sure you can carry the card, that's a problem. Recut your cards and the bottom part won't stick to anything anymore. One side of your card will remain protected, but the other side may remain unprotected. The card is still thicker, but the bottom can hang loose. It's more likely that you cut off so much protective film that the edges of your card are partially exposed. Your "protected" card could be submerged in water or otherwise damaged.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
