Water tastes noticeably better after going through a Pur filter than it does out of the tap, even after it has been brought to room temperature (I find that even tap water tastes good when when it's nice and cold). ). I love that Pur offers an extra layer of filtering to remove lead and more contaminants than a standard filter. I work in a factory with a deionized water filtration system, and as soon as you change the filters, you quickly realize how polluted the city water is, even though it looks clean from the faucet. It's good to know that you're not getting any of this in your drinking water. The jug itself appears to be of good quality and will last a long time. I've just started using it so I can't comment on how long the filters will last. They make a larger jar but this one is quite heavy when full so I don't know if I would buy it. I would go with this one or one of those that have a faucet in your fridge if you need instant refills on cups for the whole family. I think this size should be enough for most people's needs. Edit: I ordered a new filter after 3.5 months of use and was drinking about a pitcher a day. The water still tastes good, but you can smell chlorine if you refill the top compartment when it's empty (not bad - that's just because the filter is doing its job!). So 3 packs for $25 will last you about a year. Not a bad price for clean drinking water if you ask me.
