Our 2 year old daughter loves using this to practice bead threading - we love it for the fine motor skills she does (our 6 year old also). loves creating bracelets and necklaces with this set). Pretty colors, wooden beads with hard plastic threads on the ends, making it easy to string beads with little hands. We'll just have to keep a close eye on the 2 year old while she uses them as most of the beads are small and she hasn't gotten past the stage of putting something in her mouth from time to time. The wooden tray only has one large compartment when taken out of the box, there are no bead sorting options - it's just a tray but it makes a good work surface and keeps the beads from rolling off the table.
