I bought my first one from a camping store and had big plans for using it to strain berries from my Starbucks drink. I quickly realized that this is one of the most used items in my kitchen. The base is removed when you need to tighten. If I want to dump the contents in a trash can or other container (depending on what is being sifted) I can attach a pedestal to prevent drips from spilling out of the bottom. After using it I put it back on the counter and use it to store kitchen sponges. Great place to dry them. Very convenient to store. I bought 9 thinking I only needed one to add to my caravan but ended up giving a few to friends and family. I have to say this is one of my favorite items I've bought lately.
