As described, it comes pre-programmed for Samsung and Roku TVs. I have a JVC TV and it worked without reprogramming. Roku worked too. I looked through the codes and added a Sony A/V 5.1 receiver for surround sound, a Verizon TV box and a Magnavox DVD player - it really opens the door. The volume of the remote control can be fixed so that it always controls the same component (in my case A/V) no matter which device button is pressed. (It would be nice if the channels worked the same way and stayed with the prefix). It doesn't mimic Verizon's A, B, C, D keys. I'd like a bit of macro or learning functionality, like one key toggle for all devices. as it is, press TV, on, AUD, on, CBL, on, etc. and vice versa for off. In general, it works well and is relatively cheap.
