It's a simple concept, large surface area with copper fins, it does its job well and looks good. I had a heatsink/splitter provided by my Gigabyte B550 Gaming Elite motherboard and it showed that it was cooling my Crucial P5 1TB SSD, but it was also hotter than expected. I ordered this heatsink and upon removing the Gigabyte provided heatsink I found that there were only two points of contact with the NVMe block, on the chipset and on the back of the chip. This shows that the block provided by Gigabyte was deformed. . By installing this heatsink I saw a temperature drop of 20-22 degrees Fahrenheit. Yes it was a range as it depended on the temperature other components in the system were at. Now I don't think NVMe should be 102-105F, but the point is to reduce spikes and erratic temperature swings. Also looks great when installed. I'm using the Seasonic Syncro Q704 case and it looks great full length. I think this heatsink would be best in the PS5 case as it has a fairly closed NVMe bay. I think this heatsink would have been better if the copper was in direct contact rather than an aluminum plate that also has a number of copper fins attached to it. But that extra aluminum also has the benefit of having a thermal buffer, meaning it prevents sudden changes in temperature, and aluminum is cheaper than copper. Copper can have a higher thermal mass, but it also dissipates heat faster and this isn't required nor recommended for NVMe, so this is a long ramble on how well this is designed, but some exchanges designed for current NVMe are will affect possible future installation at higher NVMe speeds of the future. However, there is a lot of thermal headroom and it could be 5 years before something more robust is needed in a consumer product. However, I can say that I love this NVMe heatsink and it works and handles my Crucial P5 drive well. .
