Review on Zojirushi SH-HB15-SA 1.5L Silver Stainless Steel Pot by Mark Meyer

I take my coffee very seriously. Twenty years ago I used a paper filter, but I've been using a stainless steel Bodum press for about 12 years. It's easier and faster compared to using paper filters and I get good results. But a recent video on NutriionFacts.org warned me that paper filters improve the health of coffee. Based on that, I'll go back to using paper filters. The only question was, what would I use to make coffee now? I already had filter holders for #2 and #4 paper filters and started brewing coffee with filters instead of a press. I measure a liter of water into my kettle and only boil the water that I put in the filter. The #4 filters worked great, but I needed a filter big enough to fill a full liter of water at a time. So I found this filter holder and ordered #6 brown paper filters. Works great, I can pour a full liter of boiling water into a #6 coffee filter and this coffee filter holder works great. When I ordered this filter holder I already knew that the base is too small to sit on a Zojirushi carafe. I knew the coffee filter would fit part way into the carafe. What I didn't know was if the filter holder would be stable. If you combine the handle of the filter holder with the handle of the carafe, everything works great! I took a photo of the filter holder used with Zojirushi. Mission accomplished. About Zojirushi in particular: It is excellent and relatively expensive compared to other insulated decanters. You can easily detach the top and disassemble for cleaning. I can't think of a decanter with better insulation. The picture below shows my current and now complete coffee maker.
