To be honest, I was very skeptical about this sandwich maker. We wanted to go camping and I wanted to add something to our culinary offerings. We've had cake irons before that work great when used correctly. I tested this sandwich maker for several non-stick tests and loved it! I tried different cheeses first and even closed the block. When the cheese was completely melted, it immediately rubbed off like water, leaving no marks on the copper. Then I tried super sticky grape jelly. Like the cheese, the jelly washed away like water. I've also tried peanut butter with similarly impressive results. Also, I used a dry paper towel for all three tests. I've had other electric sandwich makers in the past that were useful but difficult to clean. Ironically, I've had fun using this sandwich maker and showing others how easy it is to clean. I highly recommend.
