Review on Enhanced Amazon Basics Surge Protector with Wall-Mount, 6 Outlets and 1080 Joules by John Jones

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I bought 2. I think you are not sure. Check out this review to see why.

After the purchase I noticed during an evaluation that this device sparkled and caught fire. So I ordered a 3-blade screwdriver from Revain and opened up one of the two I bought. What immediately caught my eye was what was in the photo I posted with this review. You can see two brass fins and a thin blue wire. The sockets along the rails are supplied with AC voltage of 115 volts. The wire is connected to one rail and passes under the other in contact with it. This wire has very thin insulation, is not rated for high voltage, and is in contact with a sharp edge. If the insulation burns out, a direct short circuit occurs. I opened the second one and it was exactly the same. These rails wobble when you insert or remove end caps. This wire shouldn't be next to the second rail, but it was in contact in both cases. I reported this to Revane last week but they didn't reply to me. Customer service did not email me directly to the product safety department. What should be public, a way to contact them in case of an issue is not. Needless to say, while I routed these wires, I will not be using these devices.
