Review on ALTRA Paradigm Men's Road Running Shoe by Daniel Jackson

cool shoes - my new review

I'm a regular runner, not athletic or semi-athletic, so these shoes were completely different and new to me. I really like the zero fall aspect as it seems to improve my form and SIGNIFICANTLY reduces knee pain. The pillow is good too, which ultimately means I can walk more days a week without pain. I wasn't expecting this, but Zero Drops definitely work better on my calves, which by definition is pretty obvious. These Nike sneakers got used to it in a few minutes because they are much wider and more stable. I like to think that the wide toe box seems to encourage more forward roll as opposed to my duck feet, but that can only be imaginary. Breathability, these shoes are amazing. When I leave them in the sun, you can see a light grid shining through the upper of the shoe onto the sole. With high breathability and a wide toe box, these shoes definitely reduce the occurrence of blisters and hot spots. Despite the wide toe box, the shoe hugs my feet pretty well and I seem to have minimal slippage. Sized, at the right length these shoes seem to compress the midfoot a bit. In terms of width, I prefer that they are a half size longer, which avoids midfoot width compression. Didn't increase slippage too much for my street boots. As far as trail runners go, I'm not sure what I would do to optimize the downhill glide.

Pros
  • good value
Cons
  • Not slip resistant.
