An absolute bargain for the price! I bought two of these and wasn't expecting much, but in terms of stability, ease of installation, and feline rating, this is definitely a win-win! I have just brought home three very fussy Oriental Shorthair kittens and the first thing they tried was to climb on the windowsill to look out the window so I decided to look for a ledge or shelf for them . What appealed to me about it was that it didn't rely on suction cups, which we all know, no matter how powerful they are, they will eventually lose their suction capacity, and for me that's a risk I don't want to take . with my precious kittens. I'd recommend securing this with the three screws provided considering it only took me about two minutes to install and it's certainly worth the extra security and stability with velcro as described above. However, I would suggest using velcro, cutting it into several pieces and using it to glue the cover to the underside of the plastic bar so it cannot be removed as easily. The first thing my kitties did when they jumped on it was cool and then they bit down and tugged at the fabric, when the fabric wouldn't come off they gave up and have had to tug at it ever since. I also took the edge of the cover on the back under the frame before attaching it with screws so it is held firmly between the window and the cover and gives the base extra support. The bottom line here is that my cats love it! No longer lying on their scratching post most of the time, they spent most of their daytime sleep on this new shelf. Given that it was plastic and the mounting feet are plastic, I really didn't expect it to be so strong and durable. The only thing I would like would be for the legs to be either white or black and the fabric to have more colors, like solid colors. But then again for the price if it bothered me that much I'd just paint the legs and find another cover for them but the kitties don't seem to mind that so I'm fine with that if they have it. I picked up two of these and they will definitely be widely used by the time I install my kitty window. Excellent purchase! Highly recommended!
