Looking for a wick that hasn't become something like a nuclear reactor cooling tower
The wick I used absorbed minerals from my water after a few uses. I turned it over so the fresh part of the wick was in the water. But the once-upside-down old part, now tawny, fanned out and made the case difficult to swap out. I tried soaking the used wicks in a vinegar solution that dissolved most of the minerals, rinsed thoroughly and dried. but the flared edges remained. I hope these newly purchased ones with blue mesh will keep the wick almost in its original shape.
