cat loves it and its itch went away on its own

This review is a Green Pea and Salmon blend. I have a 10 month old kitten. I received it from a rescue group just last month. I switched him to a different food and he kept scratching the same spot under his eye. I've had many pets with allergies and food intolerances in the past (so I know what to look out for) and his eye was fine so I suspected a food issue and decided to switch it to something else. His previous meal was a different brand and consisted of a chicken and rice formula. Not knowing what was causing his problems, I wanted a meal without the chicken and rice. (I don't generally think you should feed cats grain anyway, so I happily switched him to something grain-free. He only fed rice because I got a free bag from the rescue group. I tried it once (to him Forcing him to eat wet food but he didn't touch it so it must have been pieces.) It's actually quite difficult to find dry cat food without chicken but I stumbled upon this one.Experience using Natural Balance food for cats with digestive problems and allergies and those were quite positive overall so after that experience with the brand and looking at the ingredients list I took this one and slowly mixed it into his old food over the course of a week or two.Overall fine. The cat eats it .He likes it.Sometimes my other cats come to his bowl and they love it too.In fact they emptied it this morning.Secondly it causes the Cat I feed no digestive problems. He seems to be handling it quite well. His coat looks beautiful, his eyes look beautiful and he has a lot of energy. So I have a feeling he's getting enough nourishment. He's gained a little weight (only 0.25lbs) but hasn't fully grown yet, so that's quite enough to support the growth of an older kitten. (The pouch says it's suitable for all life stages. I haven't had very small kittens in a long time, so I can't speak directly to that.) And especially now that he's eaten exclusively this food for a while, listened he stops scratching under the eye and it heals. Other interesting things: This one has a fishy smell when you open the package, but it goes away after opening the package. Also, the pouch is not resealable, so you may need a clip or a separate storage container. (I have a 5 lb bag. I don't know how big bags are, but since this test was a success, I'll go for a bigger bag next time.)

Pros
  • Complete balanced nutrition for adult cats
Cons
  • Don't know
