The instructions say to prime the pump, whatever that means. (I even checked online - I think that means pumping a few times to get liquid in the hose). What wasn't covered was that you can rotate the spout and leave the bottle open or closed. I'm guessing it's a "feature" but since both bottles were sealed when I received them I figured they were defective. I even pulled out the hose, found the sealed inner tube and drilled it out. (Surprisingly, that didn't screw it up.) I finally managed to get it in the right position, and both pumps work -- one with dish soap, the other with shower gel. I would give this 5 stars if they were marked 'open' and 'closed'. Or just explained in the manual. Instead, I got 15 minutes of frustration.
