Sangean DT800BK Well I've had this radio for a few days now and I really like it. The radio is packed with features and menu navigation is fairly easy to set up, I definitely like the design and shape. The radio is rubberized and feels good in the hand. A cool option is that you can auto-select stations for both the AM and FM bands. I had a serious problem the first time I ran an auto scan with headphones attached instead of a wired antenna. What happened is that when I did an auto scan with the antenna cable the radio immediately found about 35 stations and re-recorded some of the previously found ones as you can store 20 FM and 20 AM stations but when I tried the same with the headphones instead of the antenna cable he only found six or seven transmitters. Now I tried to do the same with higher quality personal headphones and the result was much better, about 18 stations were found in the first auto search. This may be a problem for some of you, but if you use the antenna cable to find and save radio stations, the reception will be very good and excellent for some stations if you use headphones to listen to the radio. I tried another thing where I restarted the radio twice and tried to auto-scan with the headphones that came with the radio and they found I think there were 20 radio stations. Now, in most cases, you will get a much better signal with a wired antenna than with headphones. The sound is excellent both when listening to music and when speaking. As I mentioned before you can store 20 AM and 20 FM stations and it works like a charm, it's very easy to select the preset radio stations. Also the radio has RDS for radio stations using it, this is a good option. It comes with a weather band and you can choose between 5 channels instead of 7 like some other weather radios. It allows you to save all five as a preset. What I noticed is that the NOAA weather band is a slightly weaker signal and the voice isn't as clear as listening to the radio, it sounds kind of lower and softer. Speaking of speakers, it's small, but it definitely does a good job for its size and radio. The maximum volume is 25 and it gets very loud when listening to music. The LCD screen is well lit throughout, with no shadows or less visible areas. You can use both alkaline and rechargeable batteries and the radio also comes with an adapter so you can plug it in and charge the batteries it contains. radio while you listen. I personally use Eneloop rechargeable batteries and haven't changed them since Friday afternoon when I got the radio for reference this Tuesday evening so I've had the radio for a full 4 days. Overall this is a great radio, although the price is premium and a bit overpriced it is worth it if you want a top quality pocket radio. In the title I said the radio is almost extraordinary and it will be on the shortwave band. :-) Just kidding, this is a great pocket radio and I am very happy with this purchase.
