I liked that it was inexpensive and quick to assemble. The price is right. I would have to compare stability with a music rest, if it is light it can wobble a bit. It seems like it wobbles a bit when I type. There are more stable music stands, but they are also significantly heavier. So if you're looking for a more stable platform, a heavier stand is the way to go. This laptop stand is very lightweight and comes with a carrying case. Once assembled, it can be used as a laptop stand for presentations when you have some time to prepare. I didn't think I would use a phone holder but found it great to be able to keep the phone close as the stand size is perfect for my 13" Mac Air and is about 1" on the sides remains. and would actually be the right thing to do with him on a conference call.
