The best vacuum cleaner robot! Much better than iRobot i7!

I was going to wait for the Roborock s6 Max but I found that I don't need the s6 Max camera since we don't have pets or children. I've been using this vacuum for a little over 2 weeks and it (called Nikola, as in Nikola Tesla) is amazing and way better than the iRobot i7 it replaced! I will update if I notice any issues over the next few months. - Mapping - only one pass over an area is required to create a complete floor plan map. I have two floors and it shows both floors perfectly. My previous vacuum took 2-3 practice runs to develop the map and even then it still counted the downstairs room which was about 80% the size with a different configuration than the upstairs. You cannot place cleaning zones and wipe zones on the same map through the phone application. Determining the size without zones requires trial and error. For my no mop zones, I resized the no mop zones 3 times to perfect this for one area. - Navigation is very efficient and takes less than half the time to vacuum a room/floor with iRobot i7. For the room that iRobot i7 took 37 minutes, Roborock s6 takes 16 minutes. The application allows you to see in real time the vacuum path that Nikola is passing. It also doesn't crash into walls or furniture like other robot vacuums like the i7; so I called him Mr. Magoo. Because lidar is used, I can vacuum the entire downstairs at night without turning on the lights. Battery life The battery life should be up to 180 minutes. This only applies if you use it on the lowest suction level. If you have a mid-pile carpet, the battery life is close to 90 minutes. The vacuum cleaner will return to the docking station when the battery reaches 20-25%. When it reaches 75% charge, it will restart from the area it left to exit that area. My bottom floor, about 1200 square feet, is a combination of medium pile carpet at 15% area, low pile carpet at 35% area, and hardwood floors at 50% area and it takes 71 minutes. Above, 1500 square feet, 90% medium pile and 10% tile, and it takes about 93 minutes of vacuum time, not including the recharge time when the charge drops below 20-25%. - Calm. Compared to other robot vacuum cleaners, it makes so little noise. I can keep the TV on normal volume and Nicola can vacuum. - Software - Great updates. With the latest update you can view and save at least 2 different floors and I believe up to 3 floors. Now the vacuum cleaner can clean the carpet with a black pattern or color, which was not possible before. My favorite part of the app is the maintenance screen which shows you how much time is left to replace/clean certain parts of your vacuum. For example I have 131 hours left and then I have to change my filter or after another 11 hours of vacuuming I have to clean the lower chambers / displays on the vacuum cleaner etc. - Mopping - I wasn't looking for a mopping vacuum cleaner but I'm pleasantly surprised how well the wipe function works. The mop tank is small, but it can clean about 1,000 square feet of floor. I've mainly used water and some Bona to clean hardwood floors and it seems to be doing its job well. - No handle - My only suggestion would be to include a built in handle for the Roborock s6. It takes me two trips to move the docking station and vacuum cleaner from one floor to another just because the vacuum cleaner doesn't have a built in handle that I can only carry with one hand.-6-5-20 Update carpets with black patterns. After my review, I noticed that some others have pointed out that the s6 doesn't vacuum black patterned floor mats. I read the same thing on various forums before I bought Nikola. In fact, in October 2019 there was a post on the Roborock Facebook group showing an s6 user with the same carpet as mine (shown in the photo above) saying the s6 couldn't navigate on its black patterned carpet . So, at the same time as Nikola, I bought a non-black patterned rug. (I hate having to buy one thing after I've bought something else, just like there's no such thing as a 'free' dog.) Both the s6 and the new mat should arrive the same day. Unfortunately the rug arrived after a week but I really wanted to use Nicola. He vacuumed my carpet with thick black patterns 3 times a week with no problem. So my guess is that according to an October 2019 post on the Roborock Facebook group forum, there is a software update that will allow the s6 to vacuum carpets with thick black patterns. Or the hardware that came with my white s6 is a newer version that allows it.
