Review on Kaito KA900 Voyager Max Emergency Radio: Digital Solar Crank, AM/FM/SW, NOAA Weather, Bluetooth, Real-time Alert, MP3 Player, Recorder & Phone Charger by John Akins

Do you need a sophisticated radio device in an emergency?

I bought this after returning the Kaito KA500 because I thought the KA900 was more profitable. I found all the different features can be a little tricky, especially when you're in an emergency. All you have to do is turn on the radio and get the right station for news, weather and emergency information. The KA500 does a good job of keeping it simple. The KA900 was confusing when I first tried its different modes. I couldn't change the frequencies of the bands because there are still a few steps to go; not like KA500. Also, I don't think the sound quality of the KA900 is much better than the KA500. While I like the lithium battery, there are no slots to add alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Finally, reception on the KA500 was less static than on the KA900. If I don't have a defective KA900, then it won't be of the same quality as the KA500. So in my opinion, save your money and go for the KA500. Added note: Bluetooth won't connect to my phone or anything, despite trying at least 10 times. Yes, stick with the KA500.
