Review on Black Amazon Basics Rapid USB Battery Charger for Ni-MH AA / AAA Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries by Shawn Sanders

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's cheap but looks good.

It's light because it's basically just the circuitry and the case that make up the price. It feels like it's going to break if you drop it a few times, the cable is also very short and needs to be propped up with something to even work unless you're plugging it into a tablet, computer or something with USB on. Doesn't come with the base box, another feature to keep the price down. It works well for the most part, but what I've noticed with the Revain Japenese Silver AA is that it doesn't fully charge them. Fixing this issue required fully draining the battery a couple of times, and when it didn't you had to leave the charger on for some time even after it indicated it was charged. The indicators are also not that accurate. After a few uses, they become even more inaccurate, usually telling you that one battery is fully charged and the other is dead. Leave them charged again for a few hours to fix this. Batteries tend to be tight, so tight that you actually have to push them all the way out of the center, which I don't mind except when they fly out and roll across the room. All batteries go one way only with a + symbol through every other battery well. The beveled contact points are in a decent spot as it can take a minute to get used to adjusting them properly, but after that you can literally put them on top and push them down slightly for easier use.

Pros
  • SAFETY FEATURES: Protects against reverse polarity and overcharging
Cons
  • Short instructions
