I have a black labrador who sheds his hair like crazy any time of the year; his hair goes EVERYWHERE! I also have severe, chronic back pain from an old injury, which is why, to my shame, my stairs are ignored when cleaning because it's too heavy to lug a large vacuum up the stairs to vacuum each step individually. And we will, a handheld vacuum just can't handle the hair loss in my labs. I stumbled across this and thought why don't you try it - it's cheap! I have to say he was very impressed with how he handled all the matted hair on the stairs and best of all my back didn't feel like on fire after he was done! Now it doesn't quite deal with the dirt and debris on the stairs - I also have a cat and I find some tiny cat litter pebbles which of course can't climb. However, with very little dirt and debris now left on the stairs, I think a handheld vacuum can now handle the stair cleaning. I'm very satisfied with this product! NOTE: I would NOT try this on upholstery or carpet with large loops. It has tiny sharp teeth which I think will ruin such surfaces. But it worked great on my rug and the finely looped dining room rug (the surface is very similar to rug). I also don't think it would work well on a Berber rug, but I haven't tried it - I have a shaggy rug.
