There have been a few instances where the display jumped to an outrageous figure of 5,700 inches when fully closed, but I attribute that to the environment I'm using it in. While standard decimal and metric measurements work reasonably well, the same cannot be said for the fractional part. The 1/128 inch accuracy probably looked fine on paper, but the result is half lit ($#)/128 because the LCD twitches between the two numbers it might be showing.
