I have bought six of these cables in the last few months. I used all six XLR sockets and only two plugs. In all cases I used the 4-wire (branch) version instead of these stageboxes at the other end. So even though I've accumulated 4 unused connectors, I still find them inexpensive. I've run 150 feet of CAT6 Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) with them with no noticeable noise or crosstalk, even when surfaced. Amplify an unused channel and turn up the headphone volume on my mixer. I suspect crosstalk is reduced by at least 80dB and that's perfect for all my sound system needs. I dismantled most of them to drill holes in the back and install them permanently around church altars. They are well built internally and feature a high quality PCB that connects all five connectors. To disassemble one, loosen the four screws on the Cat6 end and pull that end straight out so the 4XLR faceplate slides out with it. Then install the empty box and slide the connectors back to close it. I also have a female end of the box and a male splitter in my mobile sound system. I find it faster and easier to use a single Cat6 cable than a multi-wire cable or 4 mic lines. It's very easy to carry around 4 different lengths of Cat6 cable and use the smallest one. It makes my whole scene look neater.
