We have two battery cars that we have been keeping for our grandchildren. One is a Peg Truck and the other is a Power Wheels ATV. This charger is perfect as it has plugs for both devices. The charger will charge the battery to 80% in around three hours, with the 12V and 12Ah high capacity batteries that both cars are fitted with 100% taking pretty much overnight. The charger gets very hot during the first hard charge, but then cools down for the final charge. Based on my knowledge of lead acid battery chemistry (I'm a chemist) this charger takes pretty good care of the battery. A higher current initial charge followed by a lower current jet charge is the correct way to get the lead sulphate that gets into the acid back onto the lead plates. When large sulfate crystals form, they short out the plates and this is the end of the battery. The charging profile of this charger minimizes their formation. Some of the reviews about this charger are not very good. My guess is that the charger issues were actually due to borderline batteries. If this charger doesn't charge the battery, I would try using a regular car charger. I wouldn't recommend using a full-size charger all the time, but it might get one of those batteries working again. at least every second month. The point is to prevent the formation of sulfate crystals.
