Review on Dorhea LM2596 DC-DC Buck Converter Step-Down Regulator 4.0-40V To 1.25-37V DC 36V To 24V To 12V To 5V Volt Power Supply Module With LED Voltmeter Display Compatible With Car Motor Buck by Stephen Chowdary

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Seems to work as advertised

I'm using a couple of these to derive 5 volts from 10S lithium packs (42-43V fully charged), and they seem to work.I'm not using the full rated current but I did test one just to check, and they do seem to limit output current rather than self-destruct.Some reviews have mentioned these exploding at less than their rated voltage. I haven't seen that with this batch, I tested several and they perform to spec. Not sure where the manufacturer sources their ICs, there may be variation among batches.Since it's a common failure mode of buck regulators to short through and output full voltage, I'd certainly recommend testing yours before using it to power anything important, but I can report success.

Pros
  • Analog control: using a mini screwdriver to increase or decrease output voltage by adjusting the screw, clockwise to step up voltage and counterclockwise to step down voltage.
Cons
  • Voltage meter may not be accurate
