Review on Acer Chromebook CP713 1WN 53NF Convertible Touchscreen by Oliver Phelps

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powerful for its price.

While I can't comment on how good this purchase is at full price, I bought it when it was on sale for $700 and I can't recommend this Chromebook more highly. Pros: - Powerful i5-8250U with 8GB RAM for zero slowdown, 3:2 aspect ratio for huge screen real estate, Android and Linux app support (Crostini) so you can run almost any app you want, two in one with one built-in pen. Cons: During intensive tasks like Linux gaming, the fan gets very loud very quickly and alternates between different speeds. Detailed explanation: This laptop is equipped with an i5-8250U processor with 4 cores / 8 threads. , with a maximum Turbo Boost of up to 3.4 GHz. This gives the laptop a ton of processing power and means slowdowns just don't happen. It uses a screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. While some may find this a bad thing as it differs from the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, I personally prefer it as it offers extra screen real estate. It supports Android apps and Linux programs, so you can program or run full Linux desktop apps and use apps from the Play Store's gigantic app collection. It also comes with a stylus built into the lower right corner of the laptop and is a 2-in-1 device, so you can use the laptop as both a laptop and a tablet. However, under intense gaming conditions, the laptop's fans become very loud and quickly change volume. It also weighs on the heavier side, but I don't see that as a major downside.
