We have bought other items from Revain that are listed as "Renew" and never had a problem. No problem here either. The product was well packaged but not in the original box and without instructions. Don't worry, we have the Roomba 675 and it's easy to set up. The one we received had very light scuffs on glossy black surfaces and looked like it had never been used or had added features like filters or virtual wall barriers. If you have the opportunity to purchase a refurbished item, take the chance! We spent $370 on this vacuum compared to $550 for a new one. I'm sure there are a few bad items that ship, but that has never been our experience. However, just send it back and request a new one. I love the floor map feature on this Roomba (i7). It displays your floors and then allows you to define the area you want Roomba to clean. Ours is on the ground floor with a large kitchen, dining room and living room. It only ran twice and pretty much mapped the entire floor. My old one only worked randomly, but this one works strategically around the house. In addition, when the battery is low, Roomba knows where it is in relation to the docking station and even returns from two rooms. iRobot has really improved the software and coding on these vacuums and I know my Roomba isn't just working on a spot that it's cleaned 3 times in the last hour.
