This is my first review of the WD 500GB Xbox One Game Drive and I will update when I use it. Packing: This WD 500GB Accelerated Game Drive for Xbox One was packed well. , a cardboard box with a very informative imprint everything I needed to know was easy to find inside the box in such a neat and organized design. The packaging was an eye-catcher, especially because it was designed with the XBOX theme in mind and every detail was printed on the box of this SSD, it was very easy to open. Everything was well packed, no styrofoam or crib to struggle with which is always a plus. It arrived in perfect condition. In the Box: Inside the box you'll find warranty information and a product manual, as well as the build quality of the SSD (rated 5/5): it doesn't feel cheap, it feels very expensive and premium. The case is made from what appears to be very durable high quality plastic with a white body and black rubber around the perimeter. Design (rated 4/5): Nice, visually pleasing black on white with rubber edges and an Xbox-like design with a single USB cable underneath. My Rating: This is a portable SSD geared towards gaming, but you can use it just about anywhere like a regular portable SSD with laptops or even PS4s, not just XBOXs. I love this SSD, it's so tiny and I love that it has a USB cable tucked inside so you no longer have to run around in your bag looking for that pesky USB cable. I usually play heavy games like Call of Duty, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc. So I always need a fast and reliable SSD to load the game faster with me and cut down on those annoying long screen load times, and I'll honestly say I was blown away by the form factor and speed of this drive. Definitely one of Western Digital's most robust 500GB gaming drives to date. It's drop-resistant with shock-absorbing rubber edges and, unlike traditional hard drives, has no moving parts. It protects content from bumps and drops, and with an SSD, it's three times faster than most portable hard drives with read speeds of up to 412MB/s and write speeds of up to 225MB/s. I tested it on a 2019 Macbook Pro 15' via the USB 3.1 port of the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro using Blackmagicdesign's Drive Speed test. You can also use it with Mac and PC as it is ExFAT formatted for PC and Mac compatibility and also comes with WD Discovery software that allows you to get the most out of this SSD such as WD backup or import Content from popular social media and cloud storage platforms. Tip: If you want to use it as a MAC Time Machine backup drive, you'll need to reformat it to HFS+J, but this will remove Windows compatibility, and in case you've lost your WD Discovery setup file, you can download it again from .wd.com support. The two main things I don't like are that if the cable breaks or something happens to it it can't be replaced and second is the capacity, now most games versions are 100+GB. , Call Duty Modern Warfare was 128GB and Red Dead Redemption was 175GB so I'd probably go for 3-5 AAA games. But other than that it's great for travel and everyday use, I highly recommend it, at around $99 it's a good deal. Pros: - Beautiful Xbox colors and design. - Strong processing quality - Very good impact-resistant rubber combs - Super fast - Very good price - Very suitable as a gift - Very light Bad: - Very short cable. - Small capacity for modern games. Verdict: Amazing build and very fast read and write speeds, at a price I highly recommend, it's very well made and feels premium, it's perfect for XBOX and even as a regular SSD.
