Review on 🎮 HyperX Alloy Core RGB – Gaming Keyboard with Membrane Comfort, Silent and Quiet Keys, Dynamic RGB LED Effects, Spill Resistant, Dedicated Media Keys, Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8/7 – Black by Barbara Majdoch

Bought as a temporary replacement for my mechanical keyboard (Logitech G610) which I liked but always wanted quieter keys. The HyperX Alloy Core (HXAC) is very quiet; I checked it while playing Overwatch and Apex and no one could hear the keystrokes. Unfortunately, you can feel the difference it takes to return the key to the neutral (up) position. You can really feel the lag, after a few years on the G610 my "muscle memory" is telling me I should be able to get a second or third click on the same button (i.e. jump-jump-jump), but when I hit the jump button again, I feel the membrane pushing the button back up while I'm already descending for the second beat. It's no problem if you're moving from side to side while pressing another button, but if you need to double jump or hit etc. you'll feel and see the lag! As an everyday keyboard for light gaming (or late-night gaming if you don't want to wake up the family) and hard work, this is a great replacement, but not a gaming keyboard. What I really like are the media controls; I loved it with my G610 and look forward to seeing it on HXAC. The lighting effects are fun, and honestly my next mechanical gaming keyboard will have RGB lighting effects because I've found that I really like the slightly orange plate for an easy view of my keys without blinding me. (I don't need a wave of light splashing under my fingers). Unfortunately the HXAC is not linked to the NGenuity software, all lighting control is handled on board. It's pretty simple, button for mode, easy levels and function + left or right arrow to change color. There is a game mode that blocks the "windows" key so an accidental keypress doesn't open a "window". So this is my main mode for now as I'm awaiting replacement caps for my G610 and considering getting a mechanical board with fast silver speed switches. Overall, I gave it a (IMHO) fair and fair 3 stars for an entry-level "gaming" keyboard, but for a well-lit membrane keyboard, it's expensive (-1 star). If you use it mainly for work and stuff and if you play games that don't require very fast reaction: LoL, Starcraft, World of Tanks, Minecraft, Puzzles, etc... that's great, but don't buy it if you have it want to plan to play fps or games that require quick reaction from the player.
